Listening to this track, its hard to believe that Maps, aka James Chapman, is from Northampton and not Norway. Such is the haunting beauty of single To The Sky. Fleshed out with lush production and wondrous – yet slightly morose – lyrics, Maps could quite easily have been Scandinavia’s next Sigur Ros. And given this track, along with the entire album was recorded in Chapman’s bedroom – without the help of a computer no less – To The Sky makes for an even more precious British talent.
A track full of surprises, but all of them entirely pleasant.
