That sounds a LOT like Paul McCartney, was my first thought as EP opener ‘Mona’ slid out of my speakers. Really, a lot. But is this a good thing or a bad thing? The sitars that break into the song halfway through only made me even more suspicious, while the brass intro to ‘China White Doll’ craves more use throughout the track, but an understated melancholy is the mood for all four tracks from this technically proficient if slightly uninspired 8-piece. They’re from Oxford and Brian Eno likes them, if that helps.
